New sculpture for Accrington - 30/09/2009

“Newt”

2.3 metres long and stainless steel

Platts Lodge, Accrington, Lancashire

This sculpture arose out of a project that the Wildlife Trust did with Woodnook Primary School in Accrington and was funded by Globe Enterprises Ltd.  The school children came up with ideas for a sculpture to mark a new housing development and the extension of a cycleway which  runs next to Platts Lodge.  Although within the town the Lodge is home to an abundance of wildlife.  The cycleway follows the disused railway line.  The sculpture is attached to one of the massive stanchions that used to hold up the railway.
